Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG)

NCS and EMG are neurological tests that use minor electric impulse and needle electrodes to assess nerve and muscle damage, inflammation or degeneration. They are useful modalities to investigate for limb numbness, tingling, muscle pain and weakness that may represent neuropathy, myopathy, myositis and radiculopathy. The degree and pattern of pathology involving the peripheral nervous system may be determined. Dr Dinushi Weerasinghe is highly experienced and knowledgeable in carrying out these investigations.
